About me
Kris Willcox is a writer and fundraising professional who has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years. She combines extensive writing and editing experience with in-depth knowledge of nonprofit fundraising and the practical needs of development and communications teams. Her clients include colleges and universities, congregations, grass-roots organizations and national nonprofits. She works with clients to create a wide range of written materials, from campaign case statements to annual fund appeals, and has provided trainings and presentations to nonprofit Boards, the Planned Giving Group of New England and the Association of Fundraising Professionals of Massachusetts. Prior to starting her consulting practice, Kris was Associate Director of Planned Giving at Simmons College and Associate Director of Charitable Gift and Estate Planning at the Unitarian Universalist Association.
In addition to her work in the nonprofit world, Kris writes fiction, essays and the occasional poem. Her work has appeared in Crazyhorse, Kenyon Review online, Beloit Fiction Journal, Cimarron Review, Tin House online, Vela Magazine, Boston Globe Magazine, and other venues. She has been recognized for fiction and nonfiction by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Utah Arts Council. Kris lives with her husband and two children in Arlington, Massachusetts.
